Power Automate: Flow Introduction [Chapter-1.0]

Initially we have SharePoint Designer to create workflow in SharePoint. But SharePoint designer limitation was that it was  integrated with one product i.e., SharePoint. With Power Automate Microsoft integrated other products like-SQL, Twitter, FB etc.

So Power Automate (previously know as MS Flow) is a kind of service that helps you to-

  • Automate repetitive business processes.
  • Send reminders on past due tasks.
  • Move business data between systems on a schedule.
  • Automate tasks on your local computer like computing data in Excel.

All of this can be done by all skill levels from typical business users to IT using Power Automates no-code/low-code platform.

Power Automate home page:

Open your browser and access this URL: https://india.flow.microsoft.com (Here India is my region). Log in with your credentials and your own Power Automate page will look like this after successful logging-

To create new flow you need to click on + Create and choose types of flow which you want to design.

Name your Flow and select your Trigger. Then, click the Create button at the bottom.

Remember, a trigger is what kicks off the automation.
